Your furture ASL interpreter in TX.

My name is Tamisha Tyson Thompson. I am originally from CT. Over the last four decades, I have lived in DC, MD, and now I am a the Great State of Texas. 

My passion for American Sign Language (ASL) began through my inability to communicate with my Deaf cousins when I was a child.  Through my work experience with  individuals with disabilities, I served  some whom were Deafblind, Deaf, or Hard of Hearing. In 2008, I began my journey toward becoming a sign language interpreter by studying in Maryland at Anne Arundel Community  College in Annapolis, and  Catonsville Community College of Baltimore County in Baltimore.

Although life circumstances temporarily delayed my educational goals, I remained committed to my dream. In January 2025, I returned to pursue interpreting  at Collin College in Plano, TX. I am a graduate of the Summer 2026 Interpreter Training Program.  I plans to retake the TEP (Test of English Proficiency) in October, followed by the BEI (Board for Evaluation of Interpreters) certification in the spring. I look forward to continuing my professional development and serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community as a future certified interpreter.
